Every 和 Each 的用法與差別

我們先看看兩個句子：
1. Every student needs to take turns to introduce themselves.
2. Each student needs to take turns to introduce themselves.
（每一位學生需要輪流自我介紹）
Every 和 Each 在這兩個句子都能夠翻作「每一位」，那到底什麼時候要用 Every？什麼時候要用 Each 呢？又有什麼時候兩個都可以用呢？
☀️ Every 強調整體性
Every 用來指一個群體中的「每個」成員，比方說：
- I’ve passed every class this semester.
（我這學期修的每一門課全都過了）
（因為我們指的是一群課程為一個整體，所以我們會使用 every）
☀️ Each 強調個體性
Each 用來指一個群體中的「個別」成員，比方說：
- I’ve passed every class this semester, but each one had a different score.
（我這學期修的每一門課全都過了，但每一門的分數都不一樣）
（因為我們指的是一群課程中的每一門課，所以第二句我們會使用 each，而不是 every）
我們再看一次一開始的兩個句子來更好地理解它們的差異：
1. Every student needs to take turns to introduce themselves.
2. Each student needs to take turns to introduce themselves.
雖然這兩句話都能夠翻成「每位學生需要輪流自我介紹」，但第一句更強調群體中的每個成員，而第二句更強調群體中的個別成員。從這兩句話，我們也可以發現 Every 和 Each 是可以混用，但會有細微意思上的差別。
最後還有一點要補充，Every 和 Each 後面接的是單數名詞，所以會是 Every student 而不是 Every studentS，而因為是單數名詞，所以後面要接單數動詞，所以會是「Every student needs...」而不是「Every student need...」。
